Impact printers use ink ribbons to transfer to the paper source. They are not as fast or as quiet as thermal receipt printers, but create receipts/documents that are not affected by heat (this is important in, for example, a restaurant kitchen environment), and they can produce a two-ply receipt, which a thermal printer can’t. They also can do two color printing if this is important to your business.
